Use small metal arts to express your affection for a person, thing, or idea on Valentine’s Day!
This jewelry making workshop will teach the basics through the design and fabrication of a pendant. Students will learn to use essential jewelry making hand tools, understand the properties of non-ferrous metals, and master foundational techniques including sawing, hammer texturing, riveting, and finishing. This workshop is perfect for those beginning or continuing their journey as a metalsmith, using simple sheet metal fabrication techniques.
The workshop will also introduce the use of patina, a surface coloring technique—a quasi time machine—which mimics the natural oxidation that occurs on metals over a prolonged period of time. The process enhances the texture, creating contrast and richness on the metal’s surface.
If you have a design that you’d like to make, it should be approximately 1 to 2 inches overall. Chloe will have designs on hand for students to try, or you can improvise.
Class fee includes raw materials and access to all tools and equipment needed to finish the project.
The workshop fee is $200. Limit of 8 students.
